Intimate
Fireside Living abuts mountain preserve
by RaeAnne Marsh
NORTH
PHOENIX – Rooftops have begun showing in clusters
in
the desert landscape east of Interstate 17 between Happy
Valley Road and Carefree Highway, and access through the
area has recently been facilitated, as the final stretch
of road between those major arteries has been paved.
Fireside
at Norterra will stretch over 875 acres within that corridor.
The new master‑planned community from Pulte Homes
and the Communities of Del Webb abuts preserve land on its
eastern border, and its internal hiking and biking trails
connect to the preserve.
An
all‑ages community, Fireside will offer opportunity
for a wide range of recreational activities. Its community
center occupies central position in the development, anchored
by the 43,000‑square‑foot community center building
that features a striking, contemporary architectural design
and that houses, among other amenities, a state‑of‑the‑art
fitness facility. Outdoors, a swimming pool for laps and
aerobics is located apart from the resort‑style swimming
pool and mini‑water park, and the spa has its own
separate area, too, with a fireplace.
Basketball
and tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, a rock‑climbing
wall and a skate park
afford
active recreation, while a fishing lake offers opportunity
for a more relaxed pastime. Large grassy areas lend themselves
to either level of exertion, as well as to barbecue get‑togethers
of family and friends under one of the picnic ramadas.
Near
the community center is land that has been proposed for
a K‑8 public school to serve
Fireside
residents. The school would be part of the Deer Valley Unified
School District.
A
total of 1,875 homes will constitute the Fireside community,
with gated and non‑gated neighborhoods. Homes will
include single‑family houses as well as multi‑family
units, both townhomes and condominiums. Homes in the multi‑family
units range in size from 1,300 to 2,500 square feet; detached
homes, 1,700 to 4,600 square feet.
